Should I foster a dog?

When you foster a dog, you’re saving lives directly. As a foster, you provide temporary housing, caregiving, and training to dogs in need.

The common reasons for foster are:

  • You’re thinking about adopting a dog or a puppy, but you want to try it out first before making a lifelong commitment

  • Transforming a stray or shelter dog to an adoptable dog, by socializing them to a new, safe environment and getting them used to being around people and other pets

  • You’re looking for canine companionship, for yourself, or your pets without a 15 year commitment

  • You just want to help!

If any of the above applies to you, you’re ready to foster!

Why do dog rescues like us need foster?

  • As a foster-based rescue, we don’t have a physical shelter, and rely on foster homes (Like You!) to provide temporary care and housing for the dogs and puppies, prior to their adoption

  • The dogs we rescue need to live in a safe environment until a suitable home is found.

  • Some puppies are too young to be adopted.

If we don’t have fosters, we can’t save lives. Dog rescues like us are in desperate need of foster homes, In fact it’s the number one bottleneck we have to saving more lives.

What does it cost for me to foster a dog?

Fostering is Absolutely Free! As a dog foster parent, you’re not expected to pay for any necessary costs, like food, medical care, vaccinations, spay or neutering. The rescue will provide everything you need. And if we don’t have something, we will buy it for you.

The biggest cost of animal fostering is your time, and emotions. You’ll gain experience as a foster parent, and you’ll learn to say goodbye to the dog you spend weeks taking care of. It’s important to remember that you’re saving lives, and you’re rewarded with this incredible feeling, and many more snuggles.
